Man who took off from police killed after car hits tree in KCK

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

Police in Kansas City, KS are investigating a fatal wreck that happened overnight on Friday. 

Dispatch says the wreck occurred at 27th and Longwood around 3 a.m. 

Kansas City, KS police discovered a car that was in the middle of the street. When officers went to see why that was the case, driver flew off at a high-rate of speed.

He eventually hit a tree. 

It's unknown why the individual took off.
