KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A woman was arrested after police executed a search warrant and found more than a dozen animals inside her home.

“It’s a Friday the 13th horror story that’s real life,” said John Bacala with Neighborhoods and Housing Services.

This morning, dozens of animals were carried from the house at 39th and Pennsylvania.

A total of 20 birds and six dogs were removed from the house. On Friday afternoon, Animal Control was still counting the cats.

“I haven’t seen anything like that before and I’ve unfortunately been on a lot of cases like this,” Bacala said.

The 68-year-old woman had animals on every level of her house.

In the past eight years, the city has been to the house 37 times.

After firefighters were there in June, they told city services there was a problem.

“She was convicted in 2012 on several charges of animal cruelty,” Bacala said.

The woman’s name is not being released because she hasn’t been formally charged.
