OAK GROVE, KY (Meredith) — A 12-year-old Kentucky girl has been arrested for allegedly poisoning her four-year-old stepbrother with Mr. Clean.

WSMV reports the girl's mother was reading her daughter's Skype messages when she came across a message in which her daughter told a friend that she was going to poison her stepbrother to "get rid of him."

According to a police report, the 12-year-old girl put Mr. Clean in her stepbrother's water and forced him to drink it.

The four-year-old had recently become sick. The mother called the Christian County Sheriff's Office to respond to the home July 6.

The girl admitted to police that she poisoned her stepbrother because she felt their mom loved him more than her. She also told police she poisoned the boy because he was "annoying her," according to the police report.

The 12-year-old girl was arrested and charged with murder. Police said she’s facing a murder charge because Kentucky does not have an attempted murder charge.

She was taken to the Cumberland Hall facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky for evaluation.

Christian County Sheriff Captain Chris Miller said the four-year-old boy became ill but was not taken to the hospital. He said the mother monitored the victim and he has recovered.
