KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Lee Asher said that, around the country, the animal shelters are too full.

His goal is to save as many of those dogs as possible.

Dogs like Ragetti.

His journey started with a successful Kickstarter campaign.

He said he sold all of his belongings and bought an RV with his best friend.

They and their six rescue dogs are traveling to 49 states to host events to encourage adoption.

At the events, the local animal shelter or humane society brings adoptable dogs. Ideally, the dogs that have been there the longest.

The Asher House then pays for the adoption of a dog and provides a month’s supply of MyOllie dog food.

“So far, total, we’ve gotten 112 dogs adopted,” Asher said. “The goal, in the beginning, was to get one dog adopted in each state.”

“We are doing the whole thing over again next year and it’s just getting better and better as we go,” he said.

Thanks to the Asher House, Wayside Waifs said they had a lot of adoptions already on Thursday and were still adopting out pets by 6 p.m.

They are hoping the day will be a big success and hope you come to the shelter to see if one of their animals are right for you.
