(KSTU/CNN/Meredith) – A nanny cam recorded the moment a home intruder walked into a bedroom and exposed himself as a mother and her infant son slept nearby.

Police said the incident happened about 3:40 a.m. Monday at a home in Layton, Utah.

The woman’s husband said he discovered the terrifying footage when he checked the newly-installed video monitor. He told KSTU he also noticed a few red flags hours after the alleged break-in.

“Our sliding door to our bedroom was halfway open,” he told the station, which did not release the couple’s identity. “Certain things in my mind kind of triggered red flags.”

Though some items were out of place, the couple said nothing was stolen from their home. The woman and child were unharmed, but the suspect was seen exposing himself with an iPhone in his hand.

“What if he was taking pictures of me?” the woman said. “I feel like that’s taken from me. The privacy of my body should be mine alone.”

The couple isn’t sure how the man got in because there were no signs of forced entry, and every door was locked. The only scenario that makes sense is that the suspect knew their garage code, which means he was either watching them or knew them personally.

"That’s what is worrisome to us, that it could potentially be somebody that we know, and this has been happening under our nose," the husband said.

His wife added: "It almost feels like someone has taken away my virtue, in a way without my consent."

The couple hopes someone recognizes the man in the video, whether it be through his mannerisms or his clothing since his face wasn’t shown in the video.

If someone doesn't recognize him, the couple hopes he will turn himself in so they can have the opportunity to forgive.

"Things can be made right, but you have to at least try," the woman said.
