(Meredith) – Newly-released surveillance footage shows a police officer beating his 14-year-old daughter inside her school’s main office.
Miami-Dade police officer Raymond Rosario told investigators he hit the teen after she “disrespected her teacher” at Pinecrest Cove Preparatory Academy, according to an arrest report obtained by the Miami Herald.
The incident happened on March 19 when a teacher called Rosario to tell him about his daughter’s behavior.
Surveillance video, released by the Miami-Dade’s State Attorney’s Office, shows Rosario slapping his daughter in the face, grabbing her by the hair and striking her twice on the legs with a belt.
Employees did not intervene at the time but eventually reported the incident to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Rosario ultimately surrendered to authorities for child abuse with no great bodily harm on April 2.
The Miami-Dade Police Department also suspended him with pay pending an investigation.
His next court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
