(Meredith) – A wildlife photographer in Florida captured a once-in-a-lifetime photo, which shows a stunning representation of the food chain on the Gulf Coast.
On April 12, Doc Jon snapped a few shots of an osprey soaring above him near Hubbard’s Marina in Madeira Beach. When he zoomed in on one of the images, he said he realized the bird was carrying a shark. In the shark’s mouth, there appeared to be a fish.
"I zoom in and I’m like, 'Holy crap, that’s a shark.' And then I see the fish in the mouth ... I just couldn’t believe I had gotten that picture," Jon said, according to weather.com.
He said the osprey was flying 400 feet in the air when he took the photo, and he’s lucky to have gotten a clear shot.
“This is a one-in-a-trillion photograph,” Jon said in an interview with FOX 13 News.
Jon later shared several photos of the incident on his Facebook page, emphasizing the images were not photoshopped.
It’s unclear what type of shark is spotted in Jon’s photograph. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, it could be one of at least five species found in the area.
