2 teens charged in connection with homicide at Hardesty, Truman

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

Two teenagers have been charged in connection with a homicide that happened earlier this week in the area of Hardesty and Truman. 

The teens are 16 years old and are currently being held in "secure detention." 

One of them has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and first-degree assault. 

The other has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and first-degree assault. 

Their identities have not yet been released.

A mandatory certification hearing will take place, according to the Jackson County Courts. KCTV5 is working to confirm when. 

The homicide happened at 10 p.m. on Monday. 

Officers around a silver Nissan sedan that was stopped in the middle of the intersection. There, police found two males inside who appeared to have been shot. 

One of them, identified on Tuesday as 15-year-old Jesus G. Reyes, was declared dead at the scene by first responders. 

The other victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
