LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

Lee's Summit police say a man shot and killed his wife inside a hair salon on Friday morning and then took his own life near Longview Lake.

Police have identified the victim in this case as Chantille Truss, 45, of Kansas City. They also identified the suspect as 51-year-old Paul E. Truss.

Police were called about 7:30 a.m. to Sola Salons in the 600 block of Northwest Murray Road. While police were driving to the scene, they received information that a woman was shot and not breathing.

Officers arrived at the scene and found Chantille Truss, who had died from a gunshot wound.

She was getting ready to start her work day when her husband came into the salon and fired several shots before driving away.

Investigators said her husband then fled to Longview Lake about 9:30 a.m.

There at the marina, he took his own life as police approached the black SUV.

The authorities are unable to tell KCTV5 News if he said anything to officers before he died.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not released any details about a motive.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
