KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The City of Kansas City is offering a special deal - $100 for a house...but the deal is not for everyone.

For the first time, employees of school districts and federal workers can apply.

The city is offering 25 homes, but have not released a list of homes at this time.

Applicants must pass a background check, be current on their property taxes and have no unresolved property maintenance violations and have access to $8,500 for repairs.

Once the renovations are complete, the new buyer must live in the home for three years.

“Public employees are committed to this City and already make sacrifices to serve,” said Ted Anderson, the Land Bank executive director. “This sale is a benefit we can offer workers who repair streets or fight fires, so that they can move from renting to owning a home.”

The process begins April 23.
