LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities are investigating a crash that has left one person dead and two others hurt.

The crash happened at about 3:05 a.m. Wednesday near Southeast Shenandoah Drive and Kimbrough Lane.

Lee's Summit police say the 1999 Chrysler Sebring was traveling east at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and the vehicle left the road and hit a tree on the north side of Shenandoah. Reports say the Chrysler hit the tree on its driver's side.

Three men in their 20s were inside the vehicle.

The driver and the front seat passenger were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. A passenger in the back seat was wearing a seatbelt and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash as they found alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

The front seat passenger, Trenton Burg, 26, of Lee's Summit, MO, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries but are expected to live.
