(Meredith) – A 68-year-old woman accused of smuggling drugs into a Memphis jail said she was tricked.
Sarah Griffin was visiting her grandson, Cody Clements, at the Shelby County Jail when she gave him a bag of Doritos, Fox13 Memphis reports.
An officer asked to see the bag, which contained a small black object wrapped in electrical tape.
The officer unwrapped it and found 11.4 grams of marijuana, 28.5 grams of methamphetamine, 40 bars of prescription Xanax pills, 1.7 grams of Ecstasy and 1.1 grams of heroin, according to WREG.
Griffin told police she didn’t know she was delivering drugs. Instead, she said she thought a cellphone was inside the bag.
The 68-year-old is now facing a contraband charge, which carries a sentence of up to six years in prison if convicted.
