A man is recovering in the hospital after his girlfriend tried killing him with a samurai sword out of jealousy, according to police in Washington state.

Emily Javier, 30, started plotting the death of her boyfriend, Alex Lovell, after she found the Tinder dating app on his phone about a week ago, according to a probable cause affidavit. She also found strands of hair that weren't hers in the shower of their Camas home.

Investigators said things escalated Friday night, when Lovell came home and ignored her.

Police said after the man fell asleep, Javier started swinging the sword and eventually stabbed him.

“Whatever that guy was into, doesn’t deserve getting knifed basically. Even if he was doing her wrong,” neighbor Jay Meltesen told KPTV.

Javier called 911 herself, and court documents state she came outside covered in blood saying, “I just stabbed him!”

Police said they found Lovell in the bedroom bleeding and blood splattered on the walls.

Investigators said Javier bought a samurai sword last week and taped it and two other knives to the side of the bed.

Javier was arrested on charges of attempted murder.

Officers said the last update they had on Lovell is that he remains in critical condition.
