The men intended to steal $4 million from an armored vehicle that would be transporting cash from a PNC Bank in Port St. Lucie, according to a federal affidavit. They also mapped out a plan to shoot and kill the two employees inside the truck, authorities said.
“Once that was successful, the suspects planned to carry out a second deadly robbery targeting another armored bank car,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a statement.
The masterminds were identified as Daryl “Doo-Doo” Canady, Alger “Al” Lee Ellison and Martiavius “Man” Leon, according to the department..
The sheriff’s office said the men plotted the violent heist over a span of two years. Through investigative leads, an FBI task force developed enough probable cause to arrange a special operation take-down.
All three men remain in federal custody.
