(Meredith) – A group of men allegedly plotted to rob and murder two armored truck employees, but the FBI foiled their plan before they could pull off the deadly heist.

Dramatic video released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office shows officers arresting the three suspects on a Florida interstate on Feb. 20.

The men intended to steal $4 million from an armored vehicle that would be transporting cash from a PNC Bank in Port St. Lucie, according to a federal affidavit. They also mapped out a plan to shoot and kill the two employees inside the truck, authorities said.

“Once that was successful, the suspects planned to carry out a second deadly robbery targeting another armored bank car,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a statement.

The masterminds were identified as Daryl “Doo-Doo” Canady, Alger “Al” Lee Ellison and Martiavius “Man” Leon, according to the department..

The sheriff’s office said the men plotted the violent heist over a span of two years. Through investigative leads, an FBI task force developed enough probable cause to arrange a special operation take-down.

All three men remain in federal custody.
