A football coach wounded in Wednesday's high school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is being called a hero.

Coach Aaron Feis is in critical condition after being shot, according to The Miami Herald.

Students and witnesses to the shooting said on social media Feis jumped in front of students in order to protect them from the gunman.

At least 17 people were killed in the shooting.

Those who died included students and adults, the sheriff said. Twelve were killed inside the building and two died outside, he said. One died in the street and two died at the hospital, Israel said.
