ODESSA, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities are investigating an attempted abduction of a student Monday evening.

The Odessa R-VII School District notified parents on Tuesday about the incident.

District officials say two suspects in a silver vehicle attempted to get a 16-year-old student into their vehicle while he was walking alone in the area of Sixth and Main streets.

The description given of one of the suspects in the silver vehicle was that of a white male in their 20s, thin light brown goatee and a mustache, a blue ball cap with no lettering and a black Nike hoodie.

District officials say the license was a Missouri plate with the first letter “N,” but no other information is available at this time.

"We ask that parents be aware of potential hazards and be extra cautious. Law enforcement is investigating the situation and will pass along information to the public and the school district as it becomes available," the school district said in a letter to parents on Facebook.

If anyone has information, they are asked to call the Odessa Police Department at 816-633-7575.
