GRAIN VALLEY, MO (KCTV) -

Grain Valley High and Sni-A-Bar Elementary were placed on alert for about two hours Monday because of police presence near Main Street and 40 Highway, the school district said.

In a letter to parents, the district said the schools were not placed on full lock-down.

In the statement, the Grain Valley School District said "extra vigilance was used with anyone wishing to enter or leave these schools."

There's no immediate word what the police presence was about.
