KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The newborn giraffe at the Kansas City Zoo is behind the scenes for now, but you can still get a chance to see Dixie up close.

The zoo said their live webcam is up and running to watch their newest addition, along with her mother, Lizzie, and the rest of their giraffe herd.

A generous, long-time zoo donor stepped forward to name the giraffe calf, the zoo said.

The camera offers a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes area where Dixie will be raised until it’s warm enough to venture outside.

The newborn giraffe already weighs around 105 pounds and stands around 5 feet tall. She was born Feb. 2 and appears to be in good health. A picture on the zoo's Facebook page shows her standing beside her mother, Lizzie.
