KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Oak Park High School star Ochai Agbaji will be a Kansas Jayhawk.

Agbaji announced his choice Thursday afternoon.

So far this season, he's averaging 27.7 points per game and 9.6 rebounds. He's three-star recruit, according to 247Sports.

Just two weeks ago, Agbaji had no offers from Power 5 Conference schools.

In those two weeks, he picked up offers from KU, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.

"We all got together on Sunday night," Agbaji said. "All talked together  - mom, dad sister and I. We decided this was the place I need to go and I will be effective."

Olofu Agbaji said Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self was a big reason the family liked KU.

"He expects a lot from the players and he promises that you'll have to work," Olofu Agbaji said. "Going to Kansas and having a scholarship doesn't mean that he'll get to play. He has to work for it. Earn his playing time. Self makes them play hard, be accountable and we see what his players bring."
