INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV/AP) -

Authorities in Iowa say an Independence, MO resident has died and several others were hurt after dozens of vehicles collided along a snow-covered stretch of Interstate 35 near Ames.

Dana Easter, 53, was killed in Monday's deadly multi-car pileup, according to an accident report released on Tuesday. Family members of Easter say he was the driver of a passenger bus returning from the Super Bowl in Minnesota.

Easter's family is mourning his loss.

Sadie Easter says her husband was the king of dad jokes.

"He's like a corn ball," Easter said. "Even if you didn't know him, he had that face where you would just stop and want to talk to him."

A Minnesota Vikings fan, Easter was driving people around Minneapolis during the Super Bowl. She said it was an opportunity he could not miss.

“He wanted to see the stadium," Sadie Easter said.

Sadie Easter says her husband is now with God.

Up to 70 cars, buses and trucks were involved in the string of crashes, which forced the closure of I-35 in both directions.

Story County Sheriff's Office Capt. Barry Thomas tells The Des Moines Register he couldn't see from one end of the wrecks to the other.

Thomas says one person was killed and from three to five people were injured. Authorities didn't release the names of those killed or hurt.
