KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Light snow will fall in the Kansas City metro through the evening hours tapering off around midnight or just before.

"Metro amounts will be less than impressive with most areas seeing none to 1/4" before it shuts off and the skies begin to clear overnight," StormTrack5 meteorologist Gary Amble said. "Heavier snow from 1-2" is possible north the metro in a line from Leavenworth through Plattsburg and Trenton," Amble said.

The heaviest snow will be confined to areas along and north of U.S. Highway 36 where isolated areas of 2-3" is possible.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued until midnight.

Temperatures will fall into the single digits by Wednesday morning as the wind chill drops into the single digits below zero.

Travel from sunset through midnight, even in areas of lighter snow in the metro, will be slow, so allow time to reach your destination if you absolutely have to get out this evening.
