Shawnee Mission school board announces superintendent finalists

SHAWNEE MISSION, KS (KCTV) -

The Shawnee Mission Board of Education released the names of three finalists for the open superintendent position in the Shawnee Mission School District on Friday.

The community is invited to meet the final candidates one at a time during a series of half-hour sessions beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. at the Center for Academic Achievement at 8200 W. 71st Street.

The finalists are Dr. Michael Fulton, Dr. Blane McCann, and Mr. Michael Muñoz.

Dr. Fulton is currently serving as superintendent of the Pattonville School District in the greater St. Louis area. The Shawnee Mission community can meet him from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Dr. McCann is currently superintendent of Westside Community Schools located in Omaha, Nebraska. His meeting session is from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Mr. Michael Muñoz is currently superintendent of Rochester Public Schools located in Rochester, Minnesota. His meeting session is from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

Each session will open with a brief introduction and then a casual question-and-answer segment.

Community members attending the sessions will be welcome to leave written comments about the candidates if they would like to. Ray and Associates will receive the comments and deliver them to board members.

No board members will be present at the community sessions with the final candidates.

After the community sessions, board members will interview each candidate for a second time in closed executive sessions.

"On behalf of the board, we are looking forward to introducing the Shawnee Mission community to these exceptional candidates for our next superintendent," said Brad Stratton, board president. "We continue to welcome input from our patrons as we move closer to making a final selection."
