LEAWOOD, KS (KCTV) -

A local school is closing Friday due to the flu.

St. Michael the Archangel School in Leawood had 125 students and staff out sick as of Wednesday, according to a priest at the school.

They’ll be closed Friday so cleaning staff can disinfect all of the surfaces for a fresh start on Monday.

Some of the cases have been flu, but other students had nasty viral seasonal colds.

A member of the KCTV5 family, who has kids at the school, said it was spreading so quickly and widely that some parents were already considering keeping their kids at home to keep them from catching something.
