DOUGLAS COUNTY, KS (KCTV) -

Authorities in Douglas County, Kansas have arrested and charged two women in connection with the November murder of a 34-year-old Eudora man, according to the Douglas County District Attorney.

Tria L. Evans, a 38-year-old from Lawrence, Christina L. Towell, a 37-year-old from Leavenworth have both been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, arson, and aggravated burglary

The women were arrested Thursday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Joel Wales.

They are currently in the Douglas County Correctional Facility and are expected to have their first court appearance on Friday.

Their bond has been set at $1 million.

Wales was killed on Nov. 3, 2017, in a home in the 1100 block of E 1200 Road, south of Lawrence, KS. On that night, first responders responded to the home after a report of gunshots and a fire.

Deputies couldn't get into the house at first because of the fire but once the fire department put it out they entered the house and found a man's body inside.

Authorities say no one else was in the home.

Neighbors told KCTV5 News that Wales was related to the owners of the home. They said he had been living there awhile. However, most people on the block said they didn't know him very well.

The Douglas County Sheriffs Office is still investigating the case. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 785-843-0250.
