INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

One person has been released from the hospital following an officer-involved shooting outside an Independence Dollar General on Tuesday evening.

Three police officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard policy.

Police say the shooting began as an "armed party" call when someone noticed the individuals with a gun outside of the store.

Police arrived around 5:45 p.m. and the two people with guns were shot and transported to the hospital.

One remains hospitalized.

Police have not yet released information about how it all played out. Neighbors nearby the scene say it sounded like a fire fight.

"It sounded almost like it started closer than that, it was so close that I felt the need to get away from the window," Cheyenne Imlay said. "It sounded - the second cluster of gunfire - I could tell was coming from the Dollar General parking lot, but the first cluster almost seemed like it was happening like right in my drive way."

The Independence Police Department says no officer was hurt in the shooting.

No information on whether or not the two individuals involved will be facing any charges has been released by police.
