OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

Police say they are investigating a homicide after finding a woman's body inside a townhome on Tuesday.

Officers responded to an emergency call about 4 p.m. to a home in the 1200 block of East Westerfield Place. When officers arrived, they found a woman dead inside the home.

The victim was identified as Ashley K. Harlan, 23. She had recently located to Olathe after living in Manhattan, KS.

It's Olathe's first homicide of 2018.

"We have our partners with the Johnson County sheriffs office crime lab out here working with us as well as our officers and our detectives will be continuing to work here and investigate until we can close this case," Olathe Police Department Sgt. Logan Bonney said.

The man who currently lives there is out of town, according to one neighbor.

"He usually keeps it locked up pretty tight," said resident Cheri Flanagan. "He normally has someone looking after the place because he's always worried about his place when he's out of town."

Anyone with information about the woman's death is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
