KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The luxury apartment complex Two Light is still months from opening its doors but a retail space located inside is already filling up.

And, the latest tenant could bring even more people and businesses back to downtown.

Spark KC is a first in Kansas City.

On Tuesday, Two Light and the Power and Light District showed off the new workspace.

Officials say Spark KC is an affordable place where entrepreneurs and startups can grow their businesses. People can live in the apartments and have a workspace in the same building.

A few startup employees stopped by to check out the space on Tuesday, to see if it would work for their business.

Tissue Analytics, a health information technology startup, currently has six employees and works out of Lenexa, KS, but Pyle says they would benefit from being downtown.

“It looks really great, being downtown definitely has its pluses, being around a lot of other businesses and what not,” said Michael Pyle, a Regional Account Executive at Tissue Analytics. “If we ever have to host clients it would be a good opportunity to show them what downtown Kansas City has to offer.”

And he thinks other businesses would too.

“Especially with the younger generation, they seem to move towards that. Being able to share, really anything like Uber or places like this, you’re going to see this take off all around the country,” Pyle said.

Spark KC will be the first significant addition of office spaces in the P&L District since H&R Block moved in nearly 10 years ago.

Two Light apartments will open in May. The workspace will open later in 2018.
