FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens will visit the Kansas City area on Tuesday to promote tax cuts for working families.

Officials say the governor’s plan will cut taxes for working families and lower taxes for businesses to create more jobs.

The governor will be at plastic manufacturer US Farathane in Riverside, MO, at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the governor, the revenue-neutral plan will cut taxes for more than 97-percent of Missouri taxpayers and cuts the personal income tax rate for anyone earning more than $9,072 a year.

The proposal would give a married couple with two kids, making $30,000, would go from paying $348 in taxes to paying nothing.

The same family, making $150,000, would also see a break. They would get $200 knocked off their $6,900 tax bill.

Greitens' proposal reduces the top individual income tax rate from 5.9-percent to 5.3-percent and cuts the corporate tax rate from 6.25-percent to 4.25-percent.

He hopes that cutting the corporate tax rate will keep businesses from leaving the state. If passed, Greitens says Missouri could have the second lowest corporate income tax rate in the country.

The plan does not detail who would not be receiving a tax cut. Something that is worrisome for some college students.
