INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Fire officials are investigating what caused a fire that injured multiple people and forced six people into the cold early Monday morning.

The fire started about 1:15 a.m. at a home in the 16600 block of East Third Terrace North. When firefighters arrived, the house was fully involved in flames.

Multiple residents, including two adults with disabilities and two children, suffered minor injuries as a result of the fire. An ambulance was requested for at least one person.

Family members waited in vehicles to keep warm as they look for a place to stay.

Officials say the home is a total loss.

The American Red Cross has been called to assist the family.
