INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

A family has been displaced after their apartment caught fire on Sunday.

Firefighters got the call at 3:51 p.m., which said an apartment in the 13800 block of E. 35st Street Ct. had caught fire.

The fire was under control by 4:08 p.m.

One person experienced minor injuries.

The Red Cross is helping the family that lived there since they have been displaced.

The apartment above the one that caught fire was damaged, but not badly enough to displace that family. The fire department has deemed it safe for them to stay there.
