KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The authorities were engaged in a standoff early on Saturday after a man was beaten and then held hostage by three people.

At 12:15 a.m., officers went to a house in the 3500 block of Askew on a call about a disturbance.

When officers arrived, the victim came outside and said that he was being held against his will by three suspects.

The victim was taken to the hospital, as he had injuries that were consistent with being assaulted.

Negotiators came to the scene and tried to contact the suspects.

By 2 a.m., three people came out of the house and were taken into custody.
