KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Royals Fan Fest will have several faces missing in 2018.

Fans however lined up early on Friday to show that they’re still “Forever Royal.”

Fans lined up, starting at 6 a.m., to get a chance to spend time with some of the active Kansas City Royals players.

“The Royals, you know I’ve been ‘Raised Royal,’ ‘Forever Royal,’ so I have to be here, got to support my team and be with all the other fans,” fan Mike Comstock said.

Royals announce new events coming to FanFest 2018

Heading into the team’s 50th season, there’s still a lot of uncertainty.

“We just sit tight,” said Toby Cook, Royals Vice President of Community Affairs and Publicity. “So, we were hoping for a big announcement but it didn’t happen. Maybe it’ll happen soon.”

Cook says they will have some great new players in 2018. But, the team did lose a fan favorite on Thursday.

“I will say this, great guy. It’s always sad when you have a player who was part of a world championship leave,” Cook said.

Lorenzo Cain signed a five-year, multi-million-dollar contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fans at Bartle Hall have mixed emotions.

“It’s great for him,” Comstock said. “That’s where he got his start but we will miss him here in KC.”

“That’s my grandson Keegan’s favorite player and he cried when his mom told him that he was leaving,” fan Nan Beam said.

Beam is still holding out hope that her favorite player will come back to the K.

“I’d like to see Moose come back…I’ve got a whole wall of him in my bedroom,” Beam said.

Along with autographs and interactive games, new this year is a player fashion show, which will happen Friday at 7:30 p.m. There won’t be a bad seat at the house during the show, as the stage rotates, giving fans a 360-degree view.
