BATES COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

There was a large train derailment in Bates County on Friday morning.

The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Route A at county road SW 8508 in Hume, Missouri.

According to the Kansas City Southern Railway Company, 15 empty rail cars were derailed, but no one was injured.

No hazardous materials were involved.

SW 8508 was blocked for a period of time as troopers dealt with the incident. The train company said at 2 p.m. that it will soon be reopened.

The cause of the incident is being investigated, the company said, but it is not suspected to be related to today's high winds.
