Caught on camera: Masked suspect breaks into man's vehicle

Posted: Updated:

A home surveillance camera captured a masked suspect breaking into a local man's Ford 250 parked in his driveway.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was away at work when motion sensors went off and sent an alert to his cell phone.

He watched the video almost in real time.

“You feel violated," Fitzpatrick said. "You work hard for this and to have someone try and take the away from you is no fun.”

IT expert Burton Kelso says surveillance video systems are becoming more common and more affordable.

"You can start out with a basic camera system around $70," Kelso said. “If you want to go with a little more sophisticated system, you’re probably looking at $200-$400 dollars that will alert you if there is activity."

A closer look at that video shows what may have stopped the crime, as a neighbor's garage across the street opens and the family's pet dog Jameson comes to the gate.
