INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Because it’s the weekend, most government offices and institutions in Kansas City aren’t affected by this government shutdown right now, but the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum was closed.

The museum posted signs outside and tweeted that they would not open on Saturday. It is administered by The National Archives, which are shut down nationwide according to their website.

On Saturday, we saw people who stopped by the library expecting it to be open. People from as far away as Utah and Oregon.

We also met an Independence, Missouri man who was frustrated that he couldn't stop by today.

“I just wanted to come by and check it out,” said David Keirsey. “I've never been to this library, so I just wanted to have a look. But due to the government shutdown, it's shut down.”

The library will remain closed on Sunday as well, if the shutdown continues.
