MERRIAM, KS (KCTV) -

On Friday night, a heavy police presence could be seen in Merriam, Kansas where a police chase ended in a crash.

The scene was in the area of W. 67th Street and Antioch Road.

Two people were taken into custody.

The chase started when someone called the police just before 6 p.m. to say that two people were stealing from the Kohl's off 95th Street in Lenexa.

The suspects refused to stop for police, even after spike sticks damaged their tires in the area of I-35 and 87th Street.

They were driving on their rims only when they lost control and crashed into another car that was stopped at a red light in Merriam.

Police found evidence in the car that the suspects were driving, including what appeared to be a long knife with a handle and a gun.

No one was injured in the chase or crash.

Police have not yet released the suspects' names or the charges they could be facing.
