Jury convicts 22-year-old in 2016 murder of Torrence Evans

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

A Jackson County jury convicted Dairian Stanley, 22, in the 2016 fatal shooting of Torrence Evans this week.

Stanley was convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action on Wednesday night after a trial that lasted for a week.

He was acquitted of kidnapping.

Stanley will be sentenced at a later date.

The fatal shooting happened in the 5600 block of Hardesty Ave. on Sept. 25, 2016.

According to court documents, Stanley confronted his former girlfriend, assaulted her, and threatened to kill her after learning she was in a relationship with Evans.

Jackson County Assistant Prosecutors Ashleigh Ragner and Christopher Accurso prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
