OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

A victim of a road rage in Overland Park said the gunshot fired at him on Wednesday night has changed how he looks at driving and staying safe on the road.

Eric says he was driving home on westbound Interstate 435 on Wednesday evening when the single shot rang out.

Two cars started pulling around each other, trading places until the exit ramp.

Then, the shooting happened.

Overland Park police say the shot was fired around 5:10 p.m. No one has been taken in custody in connection to the incident.

Police described the suspect's car as a white Pontiac Bonneville, which police say had temporary tags.

“It happened within two minutes because it looked like they had gotten on at State Line and I had gotten on at Wornall," Eric said.

The bullet went through the back door of his 2009 Acura. He was not hurt in the shooting.

He said his car will need probably need a new back door and new backseat.

“If somebody would have been in the backseat, it probably would have hit them in the neck or the face, maybe," he said.

Admitting that he pulled around the other car aggressively, Eric says he will think again before reacting on the road.

“I’m definitely not going to engage in any kind of road battles at all," he said. "I’m not going to get competitive. If somebody cuts me off, I’m just going to slow down and let it go.”
