Abandoned building catches fire on KC's northeastern side on Friday night

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A building at Equitable Road and N. Universal Avenue caught fire on Friday night.

Firefighters received the call about the fire at 7:07 p.m. 

The area is just north of Front Street and west of I-435, on the city’s northeast side.

There was a large pile of debris, including old furniture, on fire on the south side of an abandoned building.

The fire extended up to the third floor and most of the fire was on the outside of the building. 

The fire was a two-alarm fire.

KCTV5 News is working to get more information.
