PETTIS COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities in Pettis County, MO, are investigating a murder after a woman was found shot and killed at a trailer park just north of Sedalia on Tuesday.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called at about 8:26 p.m. after gunshots were heard near the Western View Estates Trailer Park on Oak Grove Lane.

Deputies arrived within minutes and checked the area but did not find any suspicious activity.

Nearly two hours later, at about 10:18 p.m., deputies came back to the area a man reported that his girlfriend was suffering from a gunshot wound at a residence in the trailer park.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman’s body on the floor with at least two gunshot wounds to her torso and blood all around her. The woman was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities say the woman was inside the house when the shots were fired and that the suspect, who was outside, shot through the door to hit her.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office says the scene is still an active investigation.
