OAKLAND, CA (KCTV) -

It didn't take too long for Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden to get reacquainted with the rivalry involving his team and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gruden, who was traded by the Raiders 16 years ago after the infamous Tuck Rule loss to New England, said the 'Chiefs Kingdom' did not give him the nicest of welcomes when he was broadcasting the Chiefs playoff game on Saturday.

"I walked into Arrowhead Stadium earlier in the season twice for the Chiefs-Broncos game and the Chiefs-Redskins game and the fans were really nice to me," Gruden said. "And when I walked into the stadium the other day, it was like 1999 all over again."

The Raiders were 5-3 against the Chiefs during Gruden's initial four-year run in Oakland, including three straight victories at Arrowhead Stadium.

In his press conference announcing his return to the Raiders, he said the Chiefs fans got his competitive juices flowing.

"I love the AFC West," Gruden said. "I love the natural rivalries that have been around since I was a kid. But I was split certainly and my juices got going when those Chiefs fans started taunting me.”

You can watch the press conference below. His remarks on the Chiefs come around the 36-minute mark.
