KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead at an apartment complex in Kansas City.

The shooting happened about 6 p.m. Monday near Citadel Drive and Blue Hills Road. Police say the man was shot following a traffic stop and foot chase.

That man’s identity has not been released to the public just yet.

According to police, the man was in a car that was pulled over for a traffic stop near 61st and Paseo. Almost immediately, he ran from them and police followed.

Police say he turned towards them and pointed a gun, leading to the shooting. But, neighbors say that’s not the entire story.

One woman said police had already shot the man at one point during the chase, and he began limping away. She adds he tried to jump over the fence and that’s when police shot multiple times in the back.

"Like seriously, he was just running. "I  don't know what he was running from, he might have because of the gun or whatever. I'm not saying he's right, he should have never run, but he did not have to lose his life, he didn't," she said.

KCTV5 News is still waiting for more information into the investigation of what happened. Police did say two other people in the car were cooperating with police and no charges were being filed against them.
