BONNER SPRINGS, KS (KCTV) -

A Shawnee man was killed on Kansas Highway 7 after police say a vehicle lost control on the icy roads and entered oncoming traffic.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Terry Kaiser of Shawnee.

The wreck happened about 6:45 a.m. Monday. Southbound lanes of Hwy. 7 reopened about 1 p.m. after emergency crews cleared the scene.

Icy conditions caused several crashes on Monday morning throughout the Kansas City area.

Police say a truck lost control on the slick roads, crossed the median and hit a car head-on.

Officers say one person was killed on impact and the other was taken to an area hospital.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area as they try to reconstruct the crash scene and notify the victim's family.
