LENEXA, KS (KCTV) -

Police in Lenexa say one man has died after a single-vehicle accident on Friday.

The accident happened before 9:30 a.m. in the area of w 83rd Street and Woodland Avenue.

Police say the vehicle was speeding and went off the road, going down a steep area, before coming to a rest in a tree-lined ravine.

The vehicle then caught fire.

The driver was the only person in the car and was ejected during the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Friday evening, that person was identified as 49-year-old Frank C. Gleason from Lenexa.

Officials said 83rd Street would be closed in both directions and that and a short detour will be in place for several hours while officers investigated.
