A former Kansas nurse was sentenced on Friday after being found guilty of sex charges against patients at two metro hospitals.

Dennis Clark was sentenced to 155 months, which is 12 years and 11 months.

Clark was accused of raping two patients at Providence Medical Center and sexually assaulting two other patients there. Clark also faced multiple charges from Menorah Medical Center.

Clark didn't have much to say when he was in court Friday to hear his punishment for sexual assaults dating back to 2010.

Both the judge and prosecutor referenced Clark's crimes as reprehensible saying he preyed on women who were in incredibly vulnerable states, some just coming out of anesthesia after surgery.

Assistant District Attorney James Covington says their case initially had six victims, three patients under his care and three neighbors. However, some of the accusations had to be dropped to bring the plea deal to fruition.

Covington says in cases like this, bringing some closure and having justice is important.

"Several of them are glad and relieved that this is over. They can move on with their lives. Anytime you have a case pending for a period of time like you do here, it's stressful, and I know there's a whole other series of his victims over waiting for their day in court and that will come in Wyandotte County," Covington said.

Clark's official sentence was the agreed upon 155 months. The district attorney's office says they will be working with other victims whose accusations were dropped in the plea deal to ensure they get the assistance they need.
