Wamego, KS firefighter dies after suffering injuries in fall

WAMEGO, KS (KCTV5) -

A Wamego firefighter has died from injuries suffered in a fall while working on fire equipment at the station on Monday.

This comes after crews responded to a structure fire about 4:50 a.m. Monday. After battling the flames and returning to the station, firefighter John Randle suffered a life-threatening injury after falling while returning the fire apparatus to service.

Randle was airlifted from a hospital in Wamego to another hospital in Topeka where he later died from his injuries.

Wamego has a population of 4,372 and is about 40 miles west of Topeka.
