CINCINNATI (WEWS/CNN) — Police said a 4-year-old girl has died of injuries suffered in a New Year's Day street racing crash in Cincinnati.

The girl's father, Terence McNulty, 25, crashed while racing another vehicle driven by Gerald Howell, 30, according to the Cincinnati Police Department.

Police said the two cars hit each other and then crashed into oncoming vehicles. The car carrying the girl then went over a guardrail and off the road.

Sgt. Mike Machenheimer said the 4-year-old was rushed to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where she later died.

The girl was wearing a seat belt but was not in a car seat, police said.

The drivers could face several charges.

Police are still investigating.
