KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Bitterly cold air remains locked in place for the first part of Tuesday.

Some morning wind chills were well below zero. At one time, the Kansas City International Airport reported a wind chill of 19 below zero.

"Later today, plenty of sunshine and a light south wind should mean that high temperatures today are able to climb above 20 degrees," StormTrack5 Meteorologist Brett Anthony said.

We are little warmer Wednesday, but another cold that afternoon will mean another frigid morning Thursday with lows near zero.

For those who need a place to get inside and warm up, Kansas City area YMCA’s are openings their doors as a warming center.

Here is a list of warming centers throughout the metro.

Remember, you can stay on top of winter weather that moves through the metro with our StormTrack weather app. It lets you track the storms as they head your way. It also provides the latest weather alerts.
