Man steals car with 18-month-old inside at 35th, Prospect

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A boy is safe with Belton police after the car he was inside of was stolen in Kansas City.

The incident happened at 11:03 a.m. Sunday in the area of East 35th Street and Prospect Avenue.

When officers arrived, a woman said that a man had forced himself into her car after forcing her and two children to get out. However, an 18-month-old boy was still inside. 

The suspect ignored the woman's pleas to get the boy out of the car and fled the scene. 

At 12:05 p.m., the Belton Police Department told Kansas City police that the victim's vehicle was in Belton and that the boy was inside. That boy is safe and with officers.

According to police, the suspect has been taken into custody in Belton.

The names of the woman and child haven't been released.
