(Meredith) – Two adorable best friends set the record straight after a group of girls told them they couldn’t be sisters because of their skin color.

Jia Sarnicola and Zuri Copeland insist they’re twins because they “have the same birthday.”

The 4-year-old girls have been best pals since they first met at their school in Miami, Jia’s mom, Ashley Sarnicola told Buzz Feed.

Although born two days apart, on June 3 and June 4, they celebrated their fourth birthday together. Since their party earlier this year, the girls have said they’re twins.

So, they were surprised when a group of girls told them “there was no way” they were sisters, while at a mutual friend’s party this month, Ashley Sarnicola wrote on Facebook.

Jia cried over the statement, then told the girls: “You don’t know anything. We are twins because we have the same birthday and the same soul.”

Zuri’s 23-year-old sister, Victoria Williams, applauded the girls on Twitter for their response, and it went viral.

More than 64,000 people liked the post, which received an overwhelming amount of comments from people showing their support.

“A lot of grownups could learn to better people if they’d take a lesson from these two little girls!” one commenter wrote
